Google Brings on News Revolution by tying up with News Wire Producers

Were you one of the legions of newsreaders who searched on a news word phrase and got scores of hits from different newspapers showing the exact same content? Of course, it is because the wire service providers like Reuters and Associated Press contributes the news to these newspapers.

Not any more. Google and four of world's major wire services entered into an arrangement which will feature the wire services news directly. Per this arrangement, the Press Association of Britain, Canadian Press, Agent France-Presse and AP will have their logo prominently displayed on their newsfeeds.

This step will hopefully stop the brewing controversy about whether Google infringed AFP's copyright by publishing articles on Google News. Read more about the copyright case here.

However, the ranking methodology of Google, will reportedly have no effect from this agreement. If say a search on Tummy Tuck Los Angeles resulted in an AP article on the subject at number 12, it will still be at number 12 after this agreement.

But it does make some different to overall Search Engine Optimization. If you a general reader gets the enlarged and unedited content directly from the horses mouth (in this case from any of the news wire services) why will you want abridged and edited content from any newspaper. I asked many SEO Los Angeles experts and they are all pointing to a potential lower ad revenue for online newspapers. Only Time will tell whether their prognosis is correct.
